It’s weird, because the second you sign up, they send you a bunch of emails from their “systems and departments” and also earmark an entire tree to turn into various mailings. So turning on is instant, and off takes days…
Thankfully, they didn’t send me any other spam emails after this.

It is probably a push/pull issue. The different departments probably grab the list from somewhere and it would be a lot of work to push changes to them. Instead they are required to check for changes every week or so. If they were required to check for changes every time they used it then it would result in more overhead for Fidelity.
